As I was packing my kits yesterday for Holland, I was thinking ahead to my next class projects and where the inspiration came from for the projects. Where do you get your inspiration from? It amazes me how we find inspiration all around us and how us "crafters" look at things "differently" as our minds are swirling with creative ideas. K & Company released a new collection of products "Cut 'N Paste Collection" as Summer CHA which will be hitting stores soon, it is bright and whimsical with Flea Market type ephemera and beautiful coordinating papers. The project below is one that I designed for the booth at CHA. I was in a store I like to go to to find pieces to alter and I saw this beautiful ivory iron piece. I had no idea what the "real use" was behind it but immediately I thought it would make a great stand for some decorated paint brushes, mini postcards and I could totally see it decorated with lace, flowers and tassels.
I returned to the store last week and saw another version of this piece only it was black and the front and back were in the shape of a spider's web! Of course I had to buy it so I could re-create this piece but in Halloween papers and embellishments. As I was walking out the door my eye spotted another one of the spider's web version and it was sitting out on display for it's intended use - it is a folding cake plate! Anyway, I still think it makes a great way to display memorabilia!
